Does Social Media Increase Bullying?

Hello all!

So does social media increase bullying?

http://blogs.brandeis.edu/samgajewski/2011/11/09/social-media-cyber-bullying-and-teen-suicide/

According to this article I've found, there are many statistical reasons as to how effective social media and bullying really is. There are many examples given within the article, and although it is old, it is still going on today. It shows us that cyber bullying within social media is on the rise and is a high risk for many teenagers around the world.

In regards to this article and topic, I find it to be very interesting to read about how extensive bullying can get. It can go from a small joke you can laugh at, or as far as ruining a reputation or suicide. I find that with extensive research, there is so much that has developed over the years and can help be a worth while topic to further study. These actions that many people take only because they think their self esteem will be boosted, will only lower the emotions of others. Be aware of your surroundings online, and stand up to those who are in need of help. I enjoy researching this topic and find it to be a possible topic for my next paper.

Thanks for tuning in!

  1. I like how you ended with what others could do about bullying. I know that's not the topic of your paper, but it is a something interesting and a concern that a lot of students have. Maybe that could somehow be part of your conclusion?
