Chapter 13: Is Digital Communication Bad?
Within this chapter, we are informed that some researches believe that all of the technology we use is somewhat destroying our ability to think. Others have argued that it actually stretches our mind and bring everyone closer together. Many of these debates in fact happen through technology itself!
I believe that technology has helped our society in so many ways. It's helped develop our research, our daily lives and so much more that it's been able to change lives and help us understand that there's more to life than what we see everyday. In regards to writing, it has not damaged or revolutionized either side of the argument. Many of sources of social media have actually helped us get our own opinions out to the world, and actually help writers themselves view what others may or may not think about their work. Technology has really helped me get into more conversations with people from all around the world, and it has tremendously improved my reading and writing. I've been able to carry out longer conversations at times an have been able to speak in a well mannered tone note only but in person as well, just by looking up other examples online. I also think that technology ahs helped myself improve personal goals, such as being able to voice my opinion either anonymously or labeled by my name. I'm able to help identify problems I may come across, or help those in need of assistance. Overall, I think technology has helped in so many ways not only as a reader and writer, but as a human being as well.

You point out many great reasons for using the internet. I also believe it can be a great tool if it isn't abused. I don't think being antisocial can be blamed on the internet, but on its users. People use phones and not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all your reasons as to why technology is good! If it wasn't for Google, we wouldn't be able to do research for projects. But it can also been negative since people can voice their opinions anonymously they sometimes hurt or put down others.
ReplyDeleteHey Brandy! I can relate to your experiences talking to people all around the world and believe that it does promote better conversation skills. Technology so far has opened new doors for people who don't see things in a certain light. It has allowed for opinions and ideas to be spread in the comfort of your home, school, and pretty much anywhere. Technology has become such an important part of our daily lives but we have to remember not to let it control the whole day.
